Running looks simple from the outside. But inside a runner’s head?
It’s chaos, therapy, nostalgia, and grocery lists all happening at once.
The First Five Minutes
Mostly:
Why did I start?
Why do my legs feel like this?
Did I tie my shoes right?
Once You Settle In
Your brain starts to wander.
You replay conversations. You think about work. You remember things you forgot. You plan dinners you may never make.
Running gives your thoughts room to move.
The Weird Thoughts
Sometimes it’s deep.
Sometimes it’s:
Do squirrels get tired?
Why is that house painted that color?
I wonder if I could run forever.
Running is a very strange place to be alone with your brain.
The Body Check
You notice everything.
Your breath.
Your feet.
That one spot that always feels tight.
It’s not judgment. It’s awareness.
The Finish Line
Near the end, everything narrows.
Just get home.
Just get to the car.
Just one more block.
And then suddenly, it’s done.
The Morning Glory Way
Running is as much a mental journey as a physical one.
Wherever your mind goes, that’s part of the run too.
